Thank You

Retailers began lining their shelves with Christmas items in the summer. Halloween came and the next day Christmas music played in the stores as people bought the leftover candy. Every year we blend the holidays into one three month festival, but Thanksgiving gets lost along the way. Remember the scene in A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving? Sally went to the store and saw all the Christmas items. She told Charlie Brown and Linus that she had not finished eating her Halloween Candy.

Most people are thankful for the things and possessions they acquired along life's journey. This year I want to encourage us to be thankful for the people we acquired along life's journey. These people make life easier for us to bear during difficult moments. They give without reason. They share our triumphs and tragedies. They listen when we need an ear to hear. They stand firm when we need a shoulder to cry on.

They fill our lives with hope, joy, peace, and love. This Thanksgiving, take some time to say "thank you" to all the people who have blessed your life with kindness and thoughtfulness. These include;

  1. People who always have an encouraging word to give you, especially when you need it.

  2. People who overlook your misdirected words of frustration when you have rough days.

  3. People who think about you first when an opportunity is presented to them.

  4. People who take time to mentor you personally, professionally, and spiritually.

  5. People who are always there for you when you need them most.

  6. People who make your roles and responsibilities easier by helping out, with and without asking.

  7. People who take time to care by doing the little things that mean so much.

  8. People who go above and beyond to make your life easy and peaceful.

  9. People who support you when others reject or abandon you.

  10. People who love you unconditionally.

I am sure there are other people you can thank for all they do for you. Don't forget them. We don't know how much time we have left on this planet. Be appreciative and remember to give thanks for the special people in your life. Most of all, never take these people for granted. They are not just people. They are gifts.

Happy Thanksgiving.
